To tell if ToneCheck™ is installed properly, look for the ToneCheck™ icons.

Depending on whether you are using Outlook 2010/2007 or 2003, the ToneCheck™ button and configuration panel (settings) may be in one of two places.

Outlook 2007/10 users: You can find the settings button next to “Run ToneCheck” in the top right-hand side of your new message window.

Outlook 2003 users: You can find the settings button next to the “Run Tonecheck” icon in the bottom left-hand side of your new message window.

If you do not see these buttons, then ToneCheck ™is likely not installed correctly or may not be an active Add-in.  Go to Options under the File Menu, you will see a section for Add-ins. Make sure ToneCheck™ is listed in the Active Application Add-Ins list.  If it is not, you can navigate to the manage page and check the box to activate it. Restart Outlook.

These types of account issues are usually limited to a couple possibilities.

a)         Are you behind a corporate firewall or proxy server?

b)         Do you have administrative privileges on your machine?

c)         Is it possible you have used the wrong password?

To solve the corporate firewall and proxy, click cancel on the login box. Then compose a new message. In the top right hand corner of the navigation (File, Message, Insert) you will see the word ToneCheck. Press it and then hit the settings button in the ribbon. Here you will be able to put in your network authentication settings under the Proxy tab. Close Outlook and reopen it and you should be able to login fine.

If you do not have administrative privileges on your machine, the administrator will need to be the user that installs ToneCheck.

If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it here: www.tonecheck.com/forgot_password

We will expand beyond Outlook, Gmail & Lotus Notes in time. We chose Outlook first because of the client market share. With that kind of market dominance it made the most sense to tackle that beast first. After that, both Gmail and Lotus Notes were the next logical choices.

We definitely want all email users to be able to experience ToneCheck™, and plans are underway to determine which client to tackle next.

The short answer is yes. We need parts of your message in order to run our tone algorithms on it. However, this is actually transmitted safer than when you hit send on your actual email. Every request is 128-bit encrypted.  A benefit to this is that our connotative technology actually learns new language techniques, and it helps make ToneCheck smarter the more that it’s used!

In an enterprise setting – we realize that due to privacy policies this may not be ideal. That’s why we’ve created a Lymbix appliance that actually integrates in your company’s infrastructure, isolating all ToneCheck communications.
